- Comments On Disturbances: The ATV trail along the south side of the BLNA has become established in the willows beside the lake. It is now well established, no vegetation grows on it and it is about 8 feet wide. It extends along the entire south side of Big Lake.

- Comments On Uses: The entire western basin of the Big Lake Natural Area is being used in winter as a motorized playground. On Dec 28, 2003 I observed the the entire western basin was covered with ATV, 4-wheel drive, snow machine and sled tracks.

The ATV trail on the south side is starting to impact on the willows and shrubs along the south side of the lake. This is likely to continue as further housing is being constructed at the SW corner of the lake almost on the shore.
